Adjunct Course Development and Instructional Opportunities
Charter Oak State College is currently accepting resumes from adjunct faculty interested in developing and teaching online courses. Charter Oak State College is Connecticut's only virtual college and is accredited by the Connecticut Board of Governors for Higher Education and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
Charter Oak State College offers approximately 180 credit and non-credit distance learning courses each semester.
Charter Oak State College is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to develop and/or teach courses, which may include, but are not limited to the following opportunities::
Instructors for Fall 2008 and Spring 2009:
- HCA 499: Strategic Management in Health Care Administration (Capstone Course); doctorate required
- MGT 499: Strategic Management (Capstone Course); doctorate required
- MGT 461: Human Resources Management; doctorate required
- MGT 325: Organizational and Group Dynamics; doctorate preferred
Course Developers for Fall 2008 :
- Bankruptcy Law
- Elder Law
- Intellectual Property
- Intergovernmental Relations
- Public Administration Capstone Course
- Introduction to Criminal Justice
- Wills, Probate and Administration
Course Developers for Spring 2009:
- Real Estate Law
- Insurance Law
- Environmental Law
- Special Topics in Current Events (1-credit on-demand format)
- Montessori Capstone Course
Course developers and Charter Oak State College co-license all courses for five years and course developers are required to teach the course for the first iteration. At the present time, course developers are paid $1,950 to develop a course and an instructor fee of $205 per enrolled student for teaching the course. A licensing fee is also paid to the developer if another instructor teaches the course after the first iteration.
Course developers/instructors should have:
- An earned doctorate; a Master's degree will be considered if the course is a lower-level course (the highest relevant degree attained must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher education).
- Experience with web-based course design (greater consideration will be given to those applicants with web-based course design experience).
- Experience with Blackboard® (preferable) or other learning management system (LMS).
- College-level on-ground and online teaching experience (preferable).
