Academics and Advisement

Charter Oak State College StudentStudents who matriculate at Charter Oak State College work with an Academic Counselor to create a personalized degree program that takes into account their prior college experience, preferred method of earning credits, and future academic and career goals. Academic Counselors are specialists in various academic disciplines. Upon matriculation students are assigned to an Academic Counselor based on the intended field of study indicated on the application for admission.

Degree requirements are satisfied in a variety of different ways. As a result, there isn’t a list of specific courses that every student must take. While this is different from what you would experience at a traditional college, it provides adult learners with additional flexibility as they work with their Academic Counselor to plan their degree program. Over one-third of our students are from out of state, and all degree planning can be done via e-mail, mail, phone, and/or fax.

After reviewing the information on this website, prospective students with questions should contact the Admissions Office. Matriculated students should log in to access the additional resources available on the Current Students page
