• Charter Oak administers the CLEP, DANTES and certain TECEP exams in its New Britain office at:

• Exams are normally scheduled on Saturdays at 9 a.m. and 12 noon. CLEP exams are also administered one Tuesday per month.
• Please carefully read the registration instructions below. Online registration is available for CLEP and DANTES exams only.

Registering for Charter Oak State College and TECEP Exams

The administrative fee is $75 for Charter Oak State College exams and $245 for TECEP exams. Make all checks payable to “Charter Oak State College”.

1. At least five weeks (seven weeks for TECEPs) prior to when you'd like to sit for an exam, call the New Britain office 860.832.3822 to schedule the date and time.
2. If you have a disability and need special accommodations, this must be arranged at the time you call to schedule the exam.
3. Mail your registration form and fees to the address so that they arrive no later than one month (seven weeks for TECEPs) prior to the test date. All test administration fees are non-refundable.
4. You must bring a photo ID to sit for an exam.
5. Exams are normally scheduled on Saturdays each month at 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. You must reschedule at least five weeks prior to test date.

If you are a matriculated student at Charter Oak State College and need to take a proctored distance learning exam from another college, call the New Britain office at 860.832.3822 to schedule the date and time.

Online Registration - For CLEP & DANTES Only

Charter Oak State College offers convenient, fast and secure online registration for CLEP and DANTES exams ADMINISTERED AT CHARTER OAK STATE COLLEGE IN NEW BRITAIN, CT.

• Please note when you register you will be required to pay the administration fee. On the day of the exam you will be required to pay the exam fee, which is required by the testing company.
• After registering online, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. Bring a printout of that e-mail confirmation with you on test day. You will need this to verify registration.

Registering for CLEP Exams

Read all the CLEP details below before registering for an exam through PrepBlast.

• The administrative fee is $35 for Charter Oak State College students and $50 for non-students.
• You will pay the $65 CLEP fee by credit card the day of the exam.
• Students planning to take optional essays are required to register at least 5 weeks prior to the test date and pay an additional $12. Once you register, call 860.832.3822 so the essay component can be ordered.
• If you have a documented disability and need special accommodations, this must be arranged with the testing staff at least 5 weeks prior to the exam. Contact the Testing Office at 860.832.3822.
• You must bring a photo identification to sit for an exam. Proper & current military ID is also necessary if $65 CLEP fee is paid with government funds.
• Rescheduling of exams must be done at least five weeks in advance of the test date; otherwise you must register for the exam all over again and pay the administration fee again. The administration fee is non-refundable.
• Cell phones, pagers, calculators, electronic devices, study or reference materials, and food or drink are not permitted in the testing area. Bring only your photo identification into the test room. We advise locking all other materials in your vehicle.

Registering for DANTES Exams

Read all the DANTES details below before registering for an exam at PrepBlast.

• Register for the exam at least five weeks prior to when you'd like to sit for an it. This will permit the Testing Office staff to order the exam you have chosen.
• If you have a disability and need special accommodations, call the Testing Office at 860.832.3822. Documentation will be required to provide appropriate accommodations.
• You must bring a photo identification to sit for an exam.
• The administrative fee is $35 for Charter Oak State College students and $50 for non-students. All test administration fees are non-refundable.
• You will complete a DSST fee sheet ($70) the day of the exam. A major credit card or money order will be required to complete this form.
• DSST/DANTES exam Principles of Public Speaking cannot be administered on a regular test day and must be arranged with the Charter Oak State College Testing Office at 860.832.3822.
• Cell phones, pagers, calculators, electronic devices, study or reference materials, and food or drink are not permitted in the testing area. Bring only your photo identification into the test room. We advise locking all other materials in your vehicle.

DANTES Fees: Fee is $35 for Charter Oak State College students and $50 for non-students. PrepBlast registration processing fee is $3. Both fees are non-refundable.
