Connecticut Parenting Educator Credential

The Connecticut Parenting Educator Credential, a collaboration between Charter Oak State College and the Connecticut Parenting Education Network (CT-PEN), establishes consistent criteria for the knowledge, skills and experience required for parenting educators including home visitors, trainers, facilitators and parenting education coordinators. This credential is issued through Charter Oak State College at five different levels. The Credential acknowledges that, as a professional in the field, you have obtained the experience and competency in the core areas of knowledge for parenting educators and that you adhere to the CT-PEN Parenting Educator's Code of Ethics (PDF). It is important to note that membership in CT-PEN is a prerequisite for application of the Credential.

The Connecticut Parenting Educator Credential is an approved program of the State of CT Board of Regents for Higher Education.

Program Application Process:

Applications for the Credential are accepted year-round. The application fee is valid for one year from the date of payment. At any time during that one-year period, you are free to submit materials that will qualify you for completion of your credentialing requirement as they become available. Once you have met education, training and experience requirements at one of the program's levels you are responsible only for the credentialing fee. See Application for current fees.
