12/11/2007 Email to Matriculated Students

Last week we sent you a letter to bring you up-to-date on the exciting project that Charter Oak is undertaking – installation of a new Student Information System (SIS).  This new SIS will increase your access to your records and services with greater efficiency.

This is a reminder that you will not have the ability to view your records online from December 29th until the middle of February.   During this time, we will be available to answer your questions and provide you with information as you need it. However, we will not be able to update your records or produce transcripts from December 29th through January 7th.

You can help us by:

  • Registering for your Charter Oak courses prior to December 28th;
  • Having outstanding transcripts sent in as soon as possible; and
  • If you are planning on a January 31st graduation date, having all paperwork and your Academic Autobiography in now!

12/3/2007 - Letter to All Students

Charter Oak State College is about to convert to a new Student Information System (SIS, Jenzabar, to better support you.  Direct benefits to you include:

  • Your own Charter Oak State College email address;
  • Fewer logins and passwords;
  • Increased access to and management capability for your records through a new portal called ACORN (Access Charter Oak Records Now); and
  • Most students will now be able to register online for Charter Oak courses.

We are working to ensure that the switch from one system to another will cause minimal disruption of service, but there will be some “down-time” and delays.  The current SIS will shut down on December 28th.   We anticipate that the new system will go live on Monday, January 7th.  What does this mean for you?

  • Between December 28th and January 4th, we will not be able to update records or produce transcripts and you will not be able to view your records online. 
  • You will be able to register for courses as usual (online, by mail, by telephone and by fax) .
  • Your academic counselor will be available to answer questions and provide you with information and status reports that will be current as of December 28th.

Because the SIS will be down for a week, you can us help by:

  • Registering for your distance learning courses prior to December 28th;
  • Having outstanding transcripts sent in as soon as possible; and
  • If you anticipate a January 31st graduation make sure your graduation paperwork and Academic Autobiography are in now.
