Concentration - Interior Design Management

The concentration in Interior Design Management is designed for students who have associate degrees in interior design (or the equivalent) and who want to develop their own small business or move into a supervisory or management position. This concentration requires a minimum of 36 credits.

Concentration Requirements:

Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship 3 credits
Organizational Behavior 3 credits
Leadership (Organizational or Business) 3 credits
Business Ethics or Personal and Organizational Ethics 3 credits
Interior Design Courses from Associate Degree 18 credits
Capstone - INT 499 (Culminating courses in concentration) 3 credits
TOTAL 36
Pre-requisite: Macroeconomics or Microeconomics 3 credits
Introduction to Management 3 credits
Introduction to Marketing 3 credits
Business Law 3 credits
Note:Only grades of C of higher may be included in the concentration.

Student Learning Outcomes

Students who graduate with a concentration in Interior Design Management will be able to:
  1. identify, research, and creatively solve problems pertaining to the function and quality of the interior environment;
  2. perform services relative to interior spaces, including design analysis programming, space planning and aesthetics;
  3. use specialized knowledge of interior construction, building codes, equipment, material, and furnishings;
  4. prepare drawings and documents relative to the design of interior spaces in order to enhance and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public;
  5. develop a small business plan;
  6. implement marketing concepts related to the interior design business; and
  7. implement business leadership skills.
