Certificate Programs
Certificate programs are designed for adults who are interested in learning a specific set
of skills and gaining knowledge in a certain area, but may not want to earn a degree. Credits earned apply toward a Charter
Oak associate or baccalaureate degree.
Certificate in Computer Security
The certificate in Computer Security is designed for those students who have a
background in computers and/or security but want to specialize in the area of Computer
Security. All courses are available online through Charter Oak.

Student Learning Outcomes
Students who complete a certificate in Computer Security should be able to:
explain how information technologies gather, store, process and communicate
information;
explain the history, terminology, and concepts of technology security;
discuss the legal and ethical aspects of an increasingly interconnected digital world;
understand and apply the concepts of communication, telecommunications, and
networking;
explain the field of information security from both the managerial and technical
perspective;
articulate the current risks and threats to an organization’s data;
demonstrate methods of addressing and safeguarding critical electronic assets;
apply the theoretical knowledge as well as the practical techniques utilized in
computer security; and
demonstrate how network security relates to other area of information technology.
