Admission and Matriculation
An application for admission may be completed online. Upon receipt of the application and application fee, the College will issue an email acknowledging the application and providing the prospective student with a user name and password. Applicants may check on the status of their application at any time by accessing the student portal. An applicant's file is kept active for six months from the date of that acknowledgement. Official transcripts and test scores of all previous academic work must be requested by the applicant and sent directly to the College.
Once all official transcripts have been received by the College and it has been determined that the applicant has met minimum admissions requirements, notification of acceptance is sent.
A summary of the applicant's transferable credit and degree access to the advising worsheet is provided to the student by the Admissions Office. To become a matriculated Charter Oak State College student, the accepted applicant must complete a writing assessment and subsequent enrollment process by submitting the Enroll Now form online and paying the College fee. Once matriculated, the student will be enrolled in either IDS 101 (The Cornerstone Seminar), or ENG 101 (Composition) or ENG 100 (Writing Refersher). Students who do not enroll in the college within six (6) months of applying will be deactivated.
