Scholarships and Endowed Funds

Scholarships & Grants

The Charter Oak State College Foundation offers a variety of Scholarships & Grants for Charter Oak State College Students.

The list of available scholarships and grants is posted in the MyCharterOak Student Portal (Self-Service Tab/Scholarships) and updated throughout the year.  Most applications will be available in late summer, due by early fall, for awarding to the student accounts for the spring semester.

To be considered for a scholarship or grant students must:

  • be matriculated at Charter Oak State College,
  • be in good academic standing as defined in the College catalog,
  • meet the scholarship criteria, and
  • complete and submit the application and requirements by the application deadline.

Students may apply for more than one scholarship in which they meet the specific criteria.

Endowed Scholarships were established by the generous support of family, friends, and fans of COSC; the endowment of funds creates a lasting legacy. To view the list of named scholarships and the criteria, please visit the Foundation Scholarship page (please note not all scholarships are available every year, please visit the MyCharterOak Student Portal (Self-Service Tab/Scholarships) for the available applications).

Charter Oak Alumni Association Master's Degree Scholarship Program

The $1,000 Charter Oak Alumni Association Master's Degree Scholarship was created to financially assist deserving Charter Oak graduates pursuing a Master’s Degree at Charter Oak State College.  Applications are posted in the MyCharterOak Student Portal (Self-Service Tab/Scholarships) in the spring; however, the $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an enrolled COSC Alum/student for the Fall Semester.

Please note: prospective students can apply to both the College Master’s Program and the Scholarship Program at the same time.

Students must complete an application and other requirements by the application deadline in order to be considered.

Credit for Prior Learning Scholarship Program

The Charter Oak State College Foundation provides a Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) Scholarship to encourage students with knowledge equivalent to college-level learning to pursue credit, thus reducing the cost of their education and their time to graduation. Students can use CPL to apply for credit instead of taking courses and can make use of the scholarship funds to take standardized or Charter Oak exams, request credit for credentials, and/or use the portfolio assessment process. Students should consult with their advisors and use the application, with instructions, in the CPL section of Student Self Service on the student portal to apply.

Outside Scholarships and other Resources

Students may receive scholarships, tuition and fee benefits, and other types of financial aid from organizations outside of the Office of Financial Aid.  This may include funding from employers, government agencies, private clubs, organizations, and other sources.

It is the student's responsibility to notify the Office of Financial Aid if they receive financial assistance from any source other than the Office of Financial Aid.
