Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education

Seeking New Student Alternate Rep to CT's Statewide Student Advisory Committee

Holly Palmer has been serving as your representative to the statewide Student Advisory Committee (SAC) for the past year and a half. This committee reports directly to the Board of Regents (BOR), the organization which oversees Charter Oak State College, the four CT state universities, and the 12 CT public community colleges. The Student Advisory Committee has two voting members on the BOR. We are now seeking candidates for the position of Alternate Representative to the SAC.

This position requires the following:

  • The Bylaws state that the Student Representatives and the Alternate must be actively pursuing (taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester) his or her degree at Charter Oak;
  • Must reside in CT and have the ability to attend monthly meetings that take place in Hartford one Friday morning per month. If the Representative is not able to attend, the Alternate Representative will vote in her place on issues that arise; and
  • He or she should have been matriculated at Charter Oak for at least 6 months and not be ready to complete the degree in less than a year.

This is a great opportunity to network with students from other institutions and to be part of the discussion on public higher education in CT.

If you are interested in talking further about this position, please contact Linda Larkin at (860) 515-3841 or emailing her at llarkin@charteroak.edu no later than August 22, 2014. In addition, you are welcome to contact Holly Palmer (current Student Representative) at studentrep@charteroak.edu to discuss.
