The works of nine accomplished artists, including Bridget Harrington, of Bristol, and Plymouth’s Dan Cahill, will be featured during a month-long exhibit of graphic media produced independently by students and alumni of Charter Oak State College, Connecticut’s distance learning college for adults. The exhibit, which will open at the College on Thursday, April 26, at 5:30 p.m. with an open-to-the-public wine, cheese and hors d’oeuvres reception, will continue through May 26. Exhibiting artists will be present to welcome attendees.
The exhibit will include watercolors, oils, pastels, acrylics and colored pencil renderings as well as negative and digital-based photographic prints. Harrington, a 2005 graduate of Charter Oak’s Applied Arts program, became interested in digital image manipulation while working for Fortune 500. Cahill, also a Charter Oak alumnus, and president of the College’s Alumni Association, has exhibited a passion for photography since the age of 10.
Exhibit entries will be judged by Nicholas F. Halko, a Charter Oak graduate and Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for Art at New Haven’s Gateway Community College. Most work will be available for purchase following the exhibit’s conclusion.
