Charter Oak State College and The Center for Financial Training Atlantic States (CFT), headquartered in Connecticut, have formed a new partnership to help employees of the financial services industry improve their job specific skills and knowledge and, at the same time, move toward completion of an associate or bachelor’s degree. Announcement of the partnership was made jointly by Charter Oak President, Merle W. Harris, and Michael Meakem, President of CFT.
The partnership benefits the financial services sector, an important part of Connecticut’s economy. Courses offered by CFT and approved by the American Council on Education in areas including accounting, lending, banking law, human relations, supervision and economics can be used in Charter Oak’s Business Administration, Organizational Management and Individualized concentrations. Meakem indicated that this new educational opportunity for financial services employees would allow them to improve their skills and advance professionally and academically.
Charter Oak is a regionally-accredited Connecticut state college, established in 1973, to help adult learners achieve their educational and career goals. The College’s distance learning programs have earned Charter Oak nationwide recognition as the college that offers “degrees without boundaries”.
Norwich-based CFT provides educational courses and seminars for financial services companies throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, the District of Columbia, and Northern Virginia.
