At Charter Oak we make degree completion possible!

We're online so you can live your life while earning your degree!

  • When: Log on when it is convenient for you - between shifts, after the kids are in bed or during your lunch hour- making sure you complete assignments according to the syllabus.
  • Where: At home, work or on the road - Your computer is your classroom!
  • How: A structured syllabus, an engaged instructor, threaded discussions and group work. Charter Oak has been the frontrunner in delivering real world content in an academic framework.

Flexible & Convenient

A hallmark of Charter Oak is the ability to earn credit through other sources.  These include credit through testing and exams, for military training, for lifelong learning through our portfolio program, for credit evaluated by ACE or PONSI, and by transferring credit earned from other regionally accredited colleges and universities.

In addition to our competitive cost per credit, we provide students with the most direct route to completing a degree. This means honoring credits that you have already earned from other accredited institutions no matter how long ago, and we limit our residency requirements to a 3-credit cornerstone course and a 3-credit capstone course. At other institutions, credit transfer restrictions and the residency requirement can mean having to earn 30 - 45 MORE credits to complete your degree. We also offer interest-free payment plans to help you manage the costs of your tuition.

Concerned about accreditation? Regionally accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Connecticut Board of Governors for Higher Education. We are a public college in the Connecticut State System of Higher Education and have been awarding degrees for over 35 years. Our alumni are more than 10,000 strong!

Whether you choose to customize your degree or select one of our many discipline specific concentrations, rest assured that your degree will provide you with an extremely well-rounded education. The core general education requirements of the degree promote strong communication and decision-making skills that prepare you for career success. Every degree awarded by Charter Oak is carefully reviewed by members of our esteemed faculty to ensure it meets the highest academic standards.

At Charter Oak we are known for the support that we provide our adult students. Once you apply, you will be assigned an Admissions Counselor who will guide you through the Admissions process and help you to establish a roadmap for degree completion. Upon enrollment, you will be provided an Academic Counselor with expertise in your area of study. This Counselor will assist you throughout the degree completion process. Our graduates tell us that this type of personal support made all the difference in helping them achieve their goal of degree completion.

Nothing makes us prouder than to see our graduates succeed. In general, earning a degree offers higher earning potential and career advancement over the course of a person's lifetime. Many of our graduates also report increased confidence and a personal sense of satisfaction as a result of completing their degree. That kind of pride and lifelong confidence is priceless!
