Course Description
This course will focus on public speaking and the art of public debate in society. Students will acquire theory and develop skills in speech organization, delivery, advocacy speech, informative speaking, and persuasive speaking. Students will also examine, critique, and develop their own moral codes connected to their field, workplace, and city by drawing upon readings and theories of right and wrong behavior, ethical justification, obligation, and responsibility. This course can only be taken by students in the College Unbound Program. (3 credits)

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Deliver advocacy, informative, extemporaneous and persuasive speeches;
- Employ active listening skills;
- Apply theories of right and wrong behavior, ethical justification, obligation, and responsibility to speech making;
- Examine, critique, and develop their own moral codes;
- Develop Lifelong Learning competencies in accordance with the College Unbound rubric.
