2006 NEASC Standards Self Study

This is an archive of our 2006 Self Study. You may be looking for our 2016 Institutional Self Study (PDF).

In October 2006, Charter Oak State College had its reaccreditation visit by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), one of six regional accrediting bodies in the United States. Through its evaluation activities, NEASC provides public assurance about the educational quality of schools and colleges that seek or wish to maintain accreditation. View NEASC's standards for accreditation.

As part of the reaccreditation process, Charter Oak was required to develop a self-study document which addressed the 11 accreditation standards. The process required that we involve our faculty, staff, and students in reviewing the standards, examining the College's strengths, weaknesses, and accomplishments, and projecting our goals for the future.

The results of the self-study are now available:

Fifth Year Report - August 2011

In August 2011, the Fifth Year Report (PDF) was prepared by having the Cabinet and the Chair of the Academic Committees review the ten year self study and the interim report submitted in 2010 and by having each cabinet member submit an update to the ten year report to the Provost.

In Charter Oak's Fifth Year Report, the College provides evidence of its continued success in "enhancing our institutional culture of evidence with respect to understanding what and how students learn, evaluating instructional quality, and assessing overall institutional effectiveness.
