About the Reviewed Program
The Hartford’s Business Mastery Certificate Program is designed to provide participants with strategic understanding of three major areas of business: operating and financial capital, intellectual capital, and customers. The program was developed in partnership with the University of Connecticut’s School of Business and is intended to provide high performing managers and individual contributors with the knowledge and skill components necessary to achieve superior results through integrated strategic thinking and acting in a broad business environment. Graduates of the year-long program possess extensive understanding of business concepts and issues as well as graduate level business knowledge customized within The Hartford’s context. In order to gain credit from Charter Oak State College for this program, participants must successfully complete the entire year of the program. Credit for the courses listed are awarded in a block, and not singly.

Business Challenge Independent Project: 3 credits, upper division level
An independent program which examines a major business challenge experienced by the student's organization. Integrates concepts from the previous three areas. Students work in teams or individually to construct a 30-60 minute presentation of an overview of their organization and to identify and address a major business challenge experienced by that organization.
Finance: 3 credits, upper division level
Introduction to corporate finance topics including time value of money; stock and bond valuation; cash flow; capital budgeting decisions and capital structure decisions. Program delivery includes classroom lectures, discussion, video conferencing, Internet and CD-ROM-based work.
Introduction to Organizational Behavior: 3 credits, upper division level
Individual self-assessment; group and team dynamics; human resource issues; work design; organization culture and design; organizational change. Program delivery includes classroom lectures, discussion, video conferencing, Internet and CD-ROM-based work.
Marketing/Sales Management: 3 credits, upper division level
Marketing mix; customer analysis; competitive strategy; marketing research; sales management; direct marketing; and e-commerce. Instruction is via classroom lectures, discussion, video conferencing, Internet and CD-ROM-based work.
