The Charter Oak State College Student Association was organized in 1985. All enrollees of Charter Oak State College are automatically members while in active status as degree candidates.
The Association's purpose is twofold: to provide an independent channel of communication between degree candidates and the Board, and to maintain a regular procedure for election of a student to membership on the Board as required by Section 10a-43(d) of the General Statutes.
The Student Council collects a Student Activity Fee formally budgeted towards scholarships, events and workshops to enhance the academic experience of Charter Oak State College students and support of public awareness activities.
Governance of the Association is by the Charter Oak State College Student Council, a board made up of degree candidates elected by the members. The Council serves as the voice of the Association in matters affecting the interest of matriculated students and is responsible for conducting the biennial election of a student representative to the Board and to the Foundation.
