Course Description
This course examines the theoretical, developmental, and pedagogical foundations of play as a catalyst for learning across educational settings. Students explore research on play-based learning, inquiry, creativity, and integrated curriculum design while analyzing the role of play in supporting cognitive, social-emotional, linguistic, and academic development for diverse learners. Emphasis is placed on culturally responsive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate practices that integrate purposeful play into standards-based instruction across content areas. Students evaluate play in traditional, digital, and multimodal learning environments and design instructional experiences that promote engagement, collaboration, problem-solving, and learner agency.
