Credit Recommendation Details / Competencies

Emergency Medical Response: 2 credits, lower division level
The EMR competencies focus on communication skills for public safety for law enforcement, fire, and EMS professionals. HIPAA privacy law, scene safety, and cultural competence (dealing with diverse populations) are stressed. EMRs are required to delineate the roles of the various professionals on scene, communicate pertinent medical information to EMTs and paramedics, assist as directed, and perform competency assessment of psychomotor and cognitive skills.
