Course Description
This course introduces the student to the risk management principles of an EMS agency. Students will focus on safety from the perspective of the field provider. (3 credits)

- ENG 101: English Composition 1
- ENG 102: English Composition 2
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Identify State and National certifications, rules, regulations, and laws requiring and standardizing EMS Safety; and describe focus areas for EMS provider safety principles.
- Evaluate with EMS safety standards EMS case studies illustrating the successful application of EMS safety principles; and illustrating the failure to apply EMS safety principles.
- Define roles and responsibilities for the EMS Safety Officer; and list and define the qualifications and qualities of the EMS Safety Officer.
- Analyze and critique the designs and implementation for a corporate EMS safety program and for a government EMS safety program.
- Examine and assess your personal EMS safety attitude; and appraise the value of an EMS safety culture for EMS organizations and for personal career success.
