About the Credential
The Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) is a national credential issued by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). The phlebotomy certification exam offered by the NHA is similar in content to the other national phlebotomy exams and similar in content to a four credit techniques of phlebotomy course. This credential shows competency in the procedures related to phlebotomy. Topics covered by the certification exam include: patient preparation, phlebotomy collection techniques, capillary and venipuncture specimen collection techniques, special collection procedures (blood smears, cultures, newborn care, blood donation procedures), specimen processing, HIPAA regulations, and safety and compliance procedures.
Applying for the Credit
Submit a Credential Credit Application to apply for the credit.

- Non-Charter Oak students: Contact the PLA Office to request a Credential Credit Application.
