About the Credential
The CPHQ exam is based on the analysis of surveyed healthcare quality professionals which is performed every three (3) years to ensure that the content is current, practice-related and representative of the responsibilities of the healthcare quality professionals. Relevance to managed care professionals and healthcare quality professionals employed in hospitals, clinics, home care, behavioral/mental health and other health care settings, has been deemed significant for the healthcare quality profession. Each question is designed to test the candidate's knowledge to perform a specific task or his/her ability to apply it to a job situation.

HCA 101 - Healthcare Systems and Administration: 3 credits, lower division level
This course introduces the health care system and organizations including acute care, public health, customer service skills, management skills, information technology in healthcare and ethical issues.
HIM 200 - Health Information Systems: 3 credits, lower division level
This course focuses on the use of electronic information systems in healthcare. It integrates the medical administrative and clinical record management, along with computer technology for performing the common medical practice functions. The course covers decision support systems, health information standards and implementation.
HIM 305 - Healthcare Organization Management: 3 credits, upper division level
This course includes the concepts and issues related to healthcare management and leadership. Topics regarding healthcare leadership, organizational design, management of professionals and the diversity of the healthcare environment are covered.
HIM 420 - Healthcare Research and Quality: 3 credits, upper division level
The topics of healthcare research and quality management, related to health information and teamwork with other healthcare professionals, is explored in this course. The theory, practice and management of performance and quality processes in healthcare are addressed. Quality management tools and analyzing data, experiencing best practices related to performance improvement and organizational readiness for accreditation, licensure or other certification processes are examined.
ITE 102 - Introduction to Computer Science: 3 credits, lower division level
This course introduces the fundamentals of information technology and explores the use of computer hardware and software.
MGT 451 - Team Leadership: 3 credits, upper division level
This course examines the interpersonal dynamics of teams and team interaction. The development of skills for leading teams, empowering members and the exploration of group processes such as goal setting and problem solving are learned.
